On your USB, create a folder titled 'PS3' (without the quotation marks). Inside of the 'PS3' folder, create another folder titled 'UPDATE' (also without quotation marks).

Now, place the PS3UPDAT.PUP you downloaded inside of the 'UPDATE' folder. Insert your USB into your PS3. Access the Safe Mode recovery menu using.
